Alone in the storm

A vertical format, like a path.
A heavy sky stretches out over the world,
grey, laden, suspended before the onslaught.

In the centre, a woman walks forward, standing tall.

She does not flee.
She does not turn away.

She faces it head-on.

Clothed in white,
as if light could still protect her,
as if nothing impure could truly touch her.

In her hand, a lace parasol.
Fragile, almost useless,
and yet held with astonishing confidence.

The storm rumbles all around,
but it does not disrupt her stride.

She walks through it.

Not unscathed through ignorance,
but intact in who she is.

The storm passes,
unable to overwhelm her.

And in this movement,
something remains:
a light that does not depend on the sky.
