Abandonment
Her body seems no longer to belong to this world.
She floats rather than falls.
Her arms limp, her head tilted back,
as if life had slipped away gently.
And yet, she does not fall.
Thin, invisible threads still hold her,
almost imperceptible, woven of fragility and light.
Butterflies carry them, light, silent, determined.
Above, a rainbow unfolds.
Not as a distant promise,
but as a passage already there,
a gentle direction toward what lies ahead.
To the right, trees stretch out their branches
like open arms,
ready to welcome unconditionally.
To the left, another tree moves away.
It does not look back.
It moves on elsewhere, in its own momentum,
in a kind of quiet indifference.
But at the heart of this scene, nothing is harsh.
Everything is calm, almost serene.
What holds it all together is almost invisible,
and yet, that is what holds everything in place.
Her body has given way.
But she has not given up.
For sometimes, letting go of the weight
allows the soul to remain standing.
For sometimes,
what is lightest
is what saves us.
